Newly released Epstein Files include a claim involving an alleged incident from decades ago — federal officials stress the allegations are unverified
A newly released batch of documents from the Department of Justice related to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation contains a shocking allegation involving Donald Trump, according to a summary included in the files.
The claim appears in a tip submitted to federal authorities and describes an alleged incident said to have occurred approximately 35 years ago in New Jersey. The document states the allegation involved a girl who was described as underage at the time. Federal records show the information was logged as a lead and forwarded internally for review.
The same document notes that authorities did not make any determination of credibility regarding the claim and that it originated from information submitted by a member of the public.
Additional allegations referenced in the document include claims related to supposed sex-trafficking activity at properties linked to Epstein during the 1990s. Federal authorities explicitly state that some of these claims were deemed not credible, while others could not be verified due to lack of contact information or inability to locate the individuals who made the reports.
In one instance, the files reference a caller who claimed to be incarcerated and made sweeping allegations involving multiple high-profile figures. Federal officials say they were unable to contact the caller and could not substantiate the claims.
Another anonymous report described alleged misconduct at Trump-owned properties; however, investigators noted the caller did not leave identifying details and the claims were logged without verification.
In response to the document release, the White House referred media outlets to a DOJ statement issued Friday addressing the Epstein Files disclosure. The DOJ emphasized that the production includes everything submitted to the FBI by the public, including information that may be false or sensational.
The statement reads in part that some claims against President Trump included in the release are “unfounded and false,” adding that if any allegation had credible evidence, it would have been acted upon previously.
Federal officials stressed the release of the files does not validate the claims contained within them, and that many submissions were never corroborated.
Story developing.
