DoorDash Driver Detained in Nancy Guthrie Kidnapping Speaks Out: “You’ve Got the Wrong Guy”

The delivery worker says the FBI grilled him for hours after a court-authorized raid — as the search for the missing 84-year-old intensifies.

A DoorDash delivery driver briefly detained in connection with the abduction of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie is now publicly denying any involvement, saying authorities “have the wrong guy.”

The man, who identified himself only as Carlos, was questioned Tuesday evening by agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and deputies from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department near his home in Rio Rico, Arizona.

Carlos told reporters he became aware he was under suspicion when he noticed law enforcement following his vehicle. He said he voluntarily pulled over, only to be detained and questioned for hours regarding his recent whereabouts.

Authorities also executed a court-authorized search of his residence, located roughly 15 miles from the Port of Nogales, a major U.S.–Mexico border crossing. Carlos claims officers damaged his front and garage doors during the search.

“I feel like I was kidnapped myself,” he said, insisting he had no knowledge of Nancy Guthrie before encountering federal agents.

Earlier that day, the FBI released surveillance images and video from a NEST camera showing a masked individual at the victim’s front door. Law enforcement has not publicly identified a suspect.

Nancy Guthrie was reported missing on February 1, shortly after family members dropped her off at home following dinner. According to officials, she is in poor health and requires daily medication — adding urgency to the search effort.

Authorities continue to investigate as the case draws national attention and concern for the elderly woman’s safety.
